First of all we are so excited to announce that our Aged Gouda was named Best of Class at the United StatesCheese Championship!  Way to go Maple Leaf Cheese.

On another note our Apple Harvest Cheddar was voted Best of Fest at the 2015 Isthmus Beer and Cheese fest that took place January 17th at the Alliant Energy Exhibition Hall in Madison Wisconsin.  What an honor!  There were over 5000 attendees at the event eating and drinking their way through the halls of amazing cheese and beer booths.  What a festival!  If you haven’t attended it before it is really worth checking out.  There was live music and an exhibition hall full of some the top cheese and beer makers in the Wisconsin area.  Tickets sell out well in advance so make sure you get them early for next years fest.

There is a new event coming up in April where we will be slinging our cheese.   It’s called Cheesetopia 2015.  This event will take place in Milwaukee Wisconsin on April 12th from noon-4 p.m. in the historic Pritzlaff building, a 20,000 square foot renovated warehouse in the Third Ward.   This new event will include some of the best artisan and farmstead cheesemakers in the Midwest.  Attendees may sample and purchase cheese from over 50 cheesemakers.  There will also be two breakout sessions;  Cheese 101 -Tasting the 8 catagories of cheese with Jeanne Carpenter and Cheese 102-American Cheese &  Perfect Pairings with Barrie Lynn, The Cheese Impressario.  Both of these ladies bring a wealth of cheese knowledge to the plate and are fun to boot!   Tickets are $25 in advance available February 17th to Wisconsin Cheese Originals members and to the public on February 24th at Wisconsin Cheese Originals

Next we boogie down to Dodgeville Wisconsin for the 4th annual Wisconsin Grilled Cheese Championship where we will be competing against other grilled cheese enthusiasts.  This event takes place Saturday April 18th from 11:00-4:00 at Ley Memorial @ Herbie Harris Park.  Competitors will compete in 3 catagories amateur, professional and young chef.  There will be many heats for each division so come on down and watch the cheese melt!  Back for another year as emcee is Kyle Cherek host of the award winning show on PBS Wisconsin Foodie, he’s sure to keep it lively.  There will be live music by Point Five (a cheesemaker happens to be a member of this band) beer by Potosi Brewing and wine by Spurgeon Winery.  General admission is free.  If you’d like to taste some sandwiches along with some homemade tomato soup and a beverage these VIP tickets are $25.00.  You can get your tickets today at grilledcheesewisconsin

On April 25th from 2:00-6:00 we head to State Fair Park in Wauwatosa Wisconsin for the Shephard Express 1st annual Stein & Dine Beer, Cheese and Sausage Fest.  This festival will be in the Exhibition Center at State Fair Park and will inclue 100 of the states finest breweries, cheese and sausage makers, along with a variety of restaurants serving food.   Attendees will be able to vote for their favorite cheese so make sure you stop by the Maple Leaf booth and try our cheeses!  Tickets will be $40.00 in advance and $50.00 at the door. Get them today at or Otto’s Wine and Spirits.
